I am always on the look out for small “feature trees”, something that can be planted in front of a hedge and still be walked under. Or to be placed in a garden bed and have enough space to have some underplanting beneath the canopy. Acacia cardiophylla does this perfectly. It is also quick growing (as its an Acacia) and has the most prolific flowering show of highly perfumed deep yellow flower spikes. It doesn’t get too tall or too wide and has beautiful soft feathery foliage that can form a great screen. It grows from 2 to 4 metres, perfect!

Birdbaths designed for birds

Mallee Birdbaths are specifically designed to serve birds. The copper dishes are broad and shallow, allowing birds to land on the edge and walk into the water. The baths are modern, elegant and durable. They are locally made in the Illawarra (NSW, Australia) using materials that will weather well and last decades. For help on which dish to choose, go here.
