This is my favourite Brachyscome at the moment, not for its tacky name (where do they get them from???), but for its running habit and thick leaf. Brachsyscome ‘Hot Candy’ is seen here growing in part shade and still flowering its head off.

It creates a lovely dense carpet for weed suppression and attracts bees and other insects, I like to combine it with grasses and other ground-covers like Myoporum, then it gives that meadowy native grassland look. Brachyscomes are great for dry positions in sun or part shade and because ‘Hot Candy’ is running it doesn’t need to be pruned back, it is totally minimal care.

Birdbaths designed for birds

Mallee Birdbaths are specifically designed to serve birds. The copper dishes are broad and shallow, allowing birds to land on the edge and walk into the water. The baths are modern, elegant and durable. They are locally made in the Illawarra (NSW, Australia) using materials that will weather well and last decades. For help on which dish to choose, go here.
