It has come around again, hello Spring, its lovely to see you again as usual. There is nothing better than the smell of Acacia blooms wafting through the sunshine. The feeling at the moment is it is going to be a long hot dry Summer, and the gentle Spring weather will likely not last that long. This Acacia is ‘Sterling Silver’ and I have blogged about it previously but I wanted to share these images where the regular trimming has turned it into a low shrub.

In the image above you can see it used as a barrier hedge between a pedestrian walkway and the road, this creates a privacy screen and safety for people taking a stroll.

I would hazard a guess that this planting gets cut back about twice a year, Acacia ‘Sterling Silver’ can be a rampant grower.

It loves full sun but will also grow in part shade and as an understory species.

Acacia ‘Sterling Silver’ can grow from anywhere between 1 metre high up to 3 metres. The long lemony flower spikes appear in late Winter to Early spring and smell delicious.
