White flowering Grevillea ‘Ivory Whip’

, , , , ,

There is something pure and classic about white flowers, and I am one for a riot of colour most of the time, however I do think this white flowering Grevilleas is one of my favourites. It is a grafted specimen and one of the hardier species to withstand our humid east coast conditions.

Grevillea ‘Ivory Whip’ can be seen here flowering its head off in winter, which is not unusual for Grevilleas. But the habit of this shrub is also really useful. It grows with a small trunk and thick canopy, making it easy to grow ground covers, grasses or other flowering plants underneath it, as the sun can still reach in. Here you can see proteas and kangaroo paws flourishing and they both require a lot of sun to flower. The thick dense foliage is also wonderful for creating a privacy screen.

Birdbaths designed for birds

Mallee Birdbaths are specifically designed to serve birds. The copper dishes are broad and shallow, allowing birds to land on the edge and walk into the water. The baths are modern, elegant and durable. They are locally made in the Illawarra (NSW, Australia) using materials that will weather well and last decades. For help on which dish to choose, go here.
